Higher Education
Brian K.
Jones-Ramey
Chino, California
My nineteen-years’ plus experience as an educator in Spanish encompasses all levels -- beginning, intermediate and advanced, including conversation, advanced Spanish grammar and introductory Spanish literature courses. I have taught a variety of occupational Spanish courses, including, but not limited to, Spanish for Nursing, Spanish for Hospitality (Food Service), Spanish for Child Care, Spanish for LIbrarians. I have also taught Spanish for Legal Professionals for the former North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and conducted training for the North Carolina Department of Corrections. I have formal training in second language acquisition theory and rely on this knowledge to appeal to the vast assortment of learners with whom I come into contact. I have taught from and am very familiar with a wide array of texts, multimedia components and supplemental materials available for Spanish curricula.

With respect to my own education, I hold a B.A. in Romance Languages and Literature (Spanish) from Georgia State University and an M.A. in Romance Languages and Literature (Spanish) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). While at UMKC, I received a scholarship to finish the last 18 hours of my graduate studies at the University of Seville, Spain. In addition to these studies, I have completed 20 quarter hours of graduate coursework at Georgia State University and 12 semester hours of post-graduate coursework at Arizona State University in both literature and translation. I also hold a second M.A. in Spanish Translation and Interpreting form the University of Texas - Brownsville.

In describing my interest in teaching, please allow me to highlight the importance I place on education in our society and communities. I thoroughly enjoy the learning process from both the student and instructor perspectives.
