  Yolanda Touré, an educator with 30 years of classroom experience, is running for the Board of Trustees in 2015. Touré is running a student-centered campaign and is concerned about working class families who struggle to send their college age students to complete their higher education degrees. Books, tuition, fees and computer technology are all on the rise. Today we experience the highest number of homeless and starving student in college as costs are rising. As an architect/project management experienced in large campus development projects, Toure is concerned about the budget overruns in the District's building program. The $6 billion Building Program must openly recruit ethnic minority and women win contracts. She is also concerned that there has not been an African American Trustee on the seven member (7) board in over eight (8) years.
