Thought I wasn't going to do well, but got an A with the help of the tutor in the learning commons. Make sure you deliver the weekly worksheets and work hard on the papers. You don't have to read all of the assigned readings but you do have to know the summaries and key quotes and points in all of them. By the way, he is a nice guy.

This course is really boring. However, you can tell that Prof. Umphres is passionate about teaching. When you reach out to him, you can also feel that he wants his students to succeed. If you plan to take this course, you should be willing to exert effort. Do not expect to get an A without having to work.

Professor Umphres was very helpful and considerate during the transition to online for the second half of the semester. I really admire the way he was always involved in the material. What a very cool professor he is.
