Cianni
Vincent Cianni is a documentary photographer. His photographs are represented in numerous museum collections and have been exhibited nationally and internationally including The Museum of the City of New York, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, George Eastman House, Kinsey Institute for Sexual Research, Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Kolga Tbilisi Photo Festival and the Bibliotecque National de France. The David M. Rubenstein Special Collections Library at Duke University is the repository for all his photographic work and archives.

We Skate Hardcore, a nine-year project documenting Latino youth in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was published by New York University Press and The Center for Documentary Studies and was awarded Best Book Design by the American Association of University Presses. The photographs were exhibited in numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally including the Photographers’ Gallery London, the 7th International Photography Festival in Mannheim and the George Eastman House. A major survey of the work was exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York in 2006

Gays in the Military is a visual and audio investigation into the effects and aftermath of the military’s ban on lives and careers of LGBT service members from WWII veterans to recent enlistees and active duty personnel. The project combines photographs, text and audio recounting their experiences of discrimination, harassment and civil and human rights abuses. Gays in the Military is published by Daylight Books (May 2014).
