I am a dedicated Director of Academic Support Programs, with over 12 years of experience leading academic success and international student programs to provide students with the information, resources, and support they need to persist and excel in university programs. I am a respected academic advisor and instructor who motivates students to make sound academic and career decisions, administers special programs to assist students facing challenges, and has a record of developing and managing new programs to meet the needs of at-risk students, international students, and other special populations. I am skilled in leveraging a background in information technology to manage projects, implement and maintain data systems, and identify improvements by analyzing complex processes and systems. I am an effective leader of student-staffed services, including peer mentoring and tutoring, using motivational team building to develop and foster leadership skills in student employees.     Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of strategies and programs that drive student retention, program completion, and academic achievement. Manage a team of work-study students, peer mentors, and tutors to facilitate their development as student leaders and models of academic best practices, ensuring they deliver effective, motivating support to students who require academic assistance. Support students who are struggling academically, including those on academic probation, by serving as their Academic Advisor and overseeing their participation in formal, structured programs and tools, such as FOCUS 2, a career assessment tool that guides students to their decision of a major or career field. Deliver year-over-year improvements in the academic standing and persistence of students supported by ASP, the result of robust programs, policies, and systems that address the unique needs of diverse students. Direct the Summer Academy, a three-week head-start program for academically at-risk freshman, to proactively position them to succeed by facilitating their transition to the university community. Awarded a $10k grant from the Independence Community Bank Foundation in 2005 to develop and implement the Summer Academy program. Motivate the continued success of high-achieving students by initiating and managing a student reward program. Recognized with a Cross Keys Award for dedication to student support services.

    International Student Advisor, SEVIS P/DSO

    Direct the administrative operations and processes to support admissions, enrollment, and acclimation of international students, serving as the campus’s Principal Designated School Official (P/DSO) for the University’s certified Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP). Process and issued all relevant forms for U.S. student visas (F-1), campus work permits (CPT), off-campus work permits (OPT), and other travel and academic documents, ensuring compliance with U.S. immigration policies and procedures. Assist students with other processes and applications, including Social Security applications, driver’s licensing, and tax returns. Lead and achieve Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) recertification in 2011, ensuring the University’s continued eligibility to recruit and host international students. Ensured the accuracy and completeness of international student data in the Federal SEVIS database to ensure compliance with information security, student data confidentiality, and U.S. student visa regulations. Drive recruitment of international students by organizing and executing recruitment initiatives, including recruitment trips to India and Nepal in 2012. Deliver an efficient, responsive application and admissions process by liaising with prospective international students and applicants to respond to queries, provide clear instructions, and resolve issues.
