We are seeking articles and case studies for a Research-Technology Management (RTM) special issue on Corporate Entrepreneurship. \n\nRTM is seeking articles that explore entrepreneurial culture and behavior in established companies. Specific topics may include but are not restricted to approaches for moving a firm toward a more experimental

entrepreneurial mindset; lean or agile business processes that support entrepreneurial approaches; the design and governance of entrepreneurial teams

    internal finance

and venture capital structures; the effect of corporate organizational structures such as innovation spaces and labs; understanding how firms develop relationships with startups; and understanding how entrepreneurial initiatives may be sustained over time. Successful submissions will offer readers practical information

    real-world case studies

    tools and frameworks

and lessons they can put to work immediately.\n\nTo be considered for the special issue

articles should be submitted by February 1

via RTM’s Editorial Manager system at www.editorialmanager.com/rtm/. Please select Special Issue Article as the article type and note the special issue title in the appropriate space.

    Academic Entrepreneurs

This study looks at 400 technology transfer disclosures and their inventors over a 10-year period at a large US research university. We find that faculty productivity in terms of patenting is not related to commercialization success

but entrepreneurial qualities are significantly correlated. Results indicate that the significant factors in successfully forming a university spin-out are the level of experience of the faculty member and participation in an industry sponsored research agreement. We also find that the academic inventor's entrepreneurial experience and inclination toward commercialization have the most positive impacts on the formation of a new venture.

    Lean Innovation

A key to effective and efficient R&D is the ability to commercialize new products quickly and effectively while leveraging the advantages of global outsourcing. The growing role of global outsourcing in new product development (NPD) represents a paradigm shift that has had a large impact on innovation and commercialization. In this article the use of outside innovation and commercialization resources

from contract employees to short-run manufacturers

  • The Influence of Collaborative IT Tools on NPD

Information technology (IT) is the cornerstone of the modern new product development process. A new generation of communication and collaboration tools has propagated into nearly all aspects of NPD. To better understand how these collaborative tools

    such as wikis

    cloud-based file sharing

    social networking

    blogs

    and microblogging platforms like Twitter

are being used in NPD and what influence they have on NPD outcomes

we undertook a global study of collaborative IT tool use in 443 firms.
