I am a law professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law I teach Torts, Contracts, Litigation, and American Legal History. I have also been a visiting professor at the University of California Hastings College of Law; UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall Law School; and the National University of Ireland Maynooth, where I taught the Irish law of Torts and Contracts to undergraduates and Master's students. I was a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.

I am licensed to practice law in Colorado and California. I was co-counsel on Brinkman et al. v. Long, the first of Colorado's marriage equality lawsuits, which led to the elimination of Colorado's bans on same-sex marriage. I also practice personal injury law, commercial law, and administrative law. I won a big taxi victory in Colorado on behalf of Mile High Cab after a five-year fight that included a trip to the Colorado Supreme Court.

Specialties: Marriage equality; civil rights; representation of taxi companies before regulatory bodies and courts, assistance with formation of taxi companies, representation of people injured in car crashes, truck crashes, and when pianos fall off roofs onto their heads; and business litigation.
