You don't really need to read the book, just go to the lectures. He's quirky but you'll learn a ton. If you are paying attention the exams are easy, very straight forward.

Poor

It's hard to take notes since he talks and writes with no real focus. It's really hard to keep track of. Don't take him if you are not a good listener or note taker that can keep up with him.

Awful

Professor Trull is a completely unorganized teacher. He shows a lot of YouTube videos, but skips around so it's hard to even watch them. Spends his entire class making conspiracy theories, rather than reviewing for the exams. He speaks really fast, unstructured, skips around and scribbles nonsense writings all over the board. Because of this, it's hard for us to take notes that make sense. Also, it takes long for him to respond to your emails.

I took Prof. Trull for Fall of 2019. He really taught us what we needed to know, while opening more perspectives for us. His class is lecture heavy, while mostly getting off topic because he references real time events to compare the lesson to, but they're actually very applicable in world scenarios. His seriousness and sense of humor makes him great as well!

I had Prof. Trull for Spring semester 2020. It was during the beginning of the COVID quarantine, so we had to shift to online class. First few weeks were good, but once we shifted online, it seemed to be a self-taught class. He didn't seem to bother to teach online.

Prof. Stephen's class was pretty easy. You just have to read the book and put in effort to pass. We actually had only 7 assignments for the whole course. Would recommend taking him!

Professor Trull's class is an amazing experience for discussion and his way of giving lectures, provoking for reflection. He also takes current events and relates it to classroom materials. He appreciates class participation as well. He has straightforward written exams and as long as you give detailed responses and do the readings, you should be fine!
