    I am an assistant professor of Sociology. I teach social movements and collective identity, issues in social change, and communities and conservation. My research is on the development of local capacity to address natural resources and other management and development issues. My specific work looks water management, water and wastewater infrastructure, community leadership and governance, bioenergy, and the impacts of landscape change.

I am greatly concerned about questions of capacity, distribution, and justice -- including public health. I currently have ongoing research in in Michigan, Nebraska and the High Plains Aquifer of the United States, as well as Mali and Ghana in West Africa and Palestine in the Middle East.
