    Steve served with the San Jose Police Department for 22 years

    retiring as Captain of Detectives. In 1994

    he was appointed Undersheriff for Placer County Sheriff’s Department

    retiring in May 2008.\n\nWith nearly 40 years of experience in law enforcement

    he is a graduate of St. Mary's College in Moraga

    California

    with a BA in Public Management and obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Management from California State Polytechnic University

    Pomona. He holds a teaching credential and taught Internal Affairs Investigations at California State University

    San Jose

    from 1988 to 1998. He is a nationally recognized expert in police procedures

    use of force and criminal investigations

    testifying in federal and state courts. He is also a graduate of California POST Command College

    Class 9. \n\nSteve has authored many law enforcement articles and received numerous awards. He has served on several statewide committees and local boards of directors such as the Auburn Rotary Club

    Peace for Families and the Placer Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. He was the training chairman for the California State Sheriff’s Association “Seconds-In-Command

    ” member of the State Attorney General’s Organized Crime and Criminal Intelligence Committee

    and a member of the United States Attorney’s Anti-Terrorism Committee for the Eastern District of California and an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco
