After nearly 20 years in advertising strategy, I have taken an entrepreneurial leap alongside my business partner John Militello (former head of creative at Google Zoo and director of marketing at Volvo). We've started Longblink, a strategy studio where we help brands reflect and refocus for competitive advantage. Learn more at Longblink.com

We began late last year with a simple belief: in a culture of constant acceleration and uncertainty, the ability to pause, reflect and act with purpose has become a competitive advantage. We’re named after the “long blink” of darkness that happens during a total eclipse. I witnessed it firsthand last summer from the path of totality. It was pretty amazing. And a solid metaphor for what we do. We quiet the noise and bring a fresh point of view. And just like the sun the moon and the Earth come into perfect alignment during a solar eclipse, we believe companies today need better alignment between their business, their brand and the people they serve.

The team we are building is a small but mighty group of experienced leader-doers with backgrounds in brand strategy, consumer research, integrated creative and consulting. Our lean studio model, human-centered research and nontraditional problem solving techniques mean we're doing the kind of work we've always wanted to do.

Experience

  • R/GA

    Group Strategy Director

Group Strategy Lead on MasterCard, Ameriprise, and Coca-Cola. I oversaw 16 strategists in planning, analytics, and MSP (mobile & social platforms). Over nearly six years at R/GA I established myself as a trusted strategic leader, new business specialist (wins on MasterCard, Ameriprise, Coke and Samsung) and creative collaborator. I spoke at SXSWi (called one of “8 Crucial Takeaways” by the Huffington Post), NYU, and client events globally. My team’s work was recognized at Cannes, the Ogilvy Awards, Jay Chiat Awards, and Midas Awards. Originally hired as associate director.

  • Freelance

    Senior Account Planner

After FCB closed the LA office I took time to travel and take on contractual strategy projects for agencies and clients, including Clorox in the U.S. and Unilever in Southeast Asia.

  • TBWA\Integer Group

    Director, Insight & Strategy

I brought contemporary planning know-how to a large agency (1,000 people) previously unaccustomed to it and put successful retail strategies in place for Coors and P&G brands. I was trained in TBWA’s Disruption philosophy, and facilitated Disruption workshops for Coors and Adidas. I was originally hired as Senior Planner. Outside of work I created and hosted Coffee Mornings Denver, a twice- monthly gathering for planners and likeminds.

  • Longblink

    Principal

Inspired by the Great American Eclipse of 2017, I decided to take a pause from full time agency life and come back with a fresh perspective. I created Longblink, a strategy studio driven by the simple idea that the ability to pause and reflect is an overlooked form of competitive advantage. In a state of constant acceleration and uncertainty, many marketers spend limited time and resources chasing the digital status quo rather than finding their own true path forward. We believe this has become the new normal in marketing, and we help teams resist it with thoughtful research, collaboration, imagination and ideas.

  • Rokkan

    Chief Strategy Officer

As the first dedicated head of strategy at Rokkan, I helped to build a place where modern strategic thinkers thrive. Over 3.5 years I worked to deepen, refine, and grow the agency’s current core strategic offerings, launch new strategic capabilities, mentor a diverse and broad team, and help lead the agency’s new business growth.
