    My primary duty was to protect human subjects involved in research by ensuring the proposed research is ethical

    and device manufactures and verify mechanisms are in place to protect the human subjects involved. \nI also reviewed protocols for observational studies and experimental studies (phase I

    and devices) for a variety of diseases and conditions. Additionally I reviewed proposals to continue approved research assuring participant safety

    welfare

    and rights throughout the duration of the trial.\nI served on this board as a Community Member with an expertise in statistical analysis and clinical research. My insight was useful and instructional in reviewing study applications for clinical trials for experimental treatments and/or medical devices. I participated and moderated board discussions on emerging research methods and their impact on human subjects protections.

    I applied my statistical and research experience to assist the program director on matters pertaining to student recruitment

    and data-based decisions on curriculum and academic standards. I produce reports utilized by the director to communicate matters of the program to the chair of the department

    and to the Council of Education for Public Health. The data I curate includes: recruitment and retention

    and graduation/exit surveys. \nI also created and executed an online math and statistics boot camp in response to a needs assessment I conducted with the purpose to improve the passing rate for biostatistics related courses. This boot camp includes 6 modules of learning intended to give the incoming student a review of common mathematical and statistical methodologies to ensure a more seamless transition to becoming a student again. Also

    I am co-authoring two manuscripts with the program director on online education and workforce in the public health sector.

    My teaching course load included introductory statistics and remedial mathematics courses. Outside of the classroom I mentored students as they prepared for the next step in their educational journeys. \n\nIn my introductory statistics courses

    I used real-world applications of basic mathematics to convey to the students the importance of being proficient using the basic math operations.

    I founded this organization to support the graduate students in the preventive medicine department at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. As president and founder I created systems of support for our students that included study groups for screening exams

    advice and mentoring pairings among students

    and social opportunities for our students to unwind and de-stress. Other activities include a journal club

    established mechanisms of support for passing our benchmarks and screening exams

    and networking opportunities with alumni.
