Okay to good teacher. She knows something about object programming. She does not care about students. He wants you to be successful. The lectures are all from real life. Many like his long boring lectures.

Computer Science has become indispensable in today's academic environment. Melvin did a great job at showing us how to take advantage of the techniques and methods that we can apply to leverage the computer science tools that are available.

He is a good teacher. The only reason why some of my classmates don't like his class it's because they don't want to put effort on it. Instead they want an instant A grade without realizing what will happen in the future. I'm so excited for the next semester since I'm very prepared because of his class.

Good

Prof. Melvin is the best choice for COMSC-165. If you have the chance to take him, grab it. I really enjoyed the environment and his class. His lectures can be long but I've actually been through worse.

Awful

Prof. Melvin is the worst CS teacher I've ever taken! You can see that he cares for his students and he tries his hardest, but he graded assignments a week after the final, so I didn't know my grade until then, which was inconvenient for me. Exams are worth 200 points, which is a lot more than hw tasks and can take a long time to finish. Wouldn't recommend this prof at all and his grading is really unfair!!

Poor

Prof. Ryan is a very late grader. He gives tasks that are due after the semester's end. Tasks ends on Friday and assigns you a task to complete on Sunday. To get a good grade on tests, you'll need to study quizzes. This class has a lot of assignments to deal with. He's good at assisting you, but because your workload is high, you'll just have to look for answers.

I switched majors because of this professor. Although DVC's computer science department isn't the best, you're in the wrong college if you're a computer science major. Because the classes at DVC won't actually help you, make sure you prepare outside of class.

Awful

His grading system is very unfair. There are three examinations and a final exam to complete. Each of these assessments is worth 200 points, with weekly homework assignments worth 10 points each. Many of these homework assignments require far more effort than the tests, which are merely multiple choice questions. On the day of the exam, he also posted the exam on canvas. Wouldn't recommend at all.

In Professor Melvin's class, you will just read the book. The quizzes were hard but you'll get a score higher out of two. The laboratories were easy as well.

Good

Professor Melvin is nice. He's willing to help his students. His lectures were clear and concise. However, his voice makes people sleepy. Also, his quizzes were very hard. On the other hand, the exam is easy, since the questions are 80% the same as in previous tests. I suggest that you read the textbook since it is vital.
