As Financial Fellow, assisted with the allocation of a $370M command budget that supported over 500,000 DOD beneficiaries.

    Impact:

    1. Assisted in the development of the command’s $6B Program Objective memorandum and Medical Annual Planning and Programming Guidance; recommended a $1B annual resources allocation program
    2. Responsible for planning, programming and executing a manpower program comprising 10,000 authorizations valued at $660M. Managed allocation of colonel, field grade and enlisted grade programs

  • 81st Medical Group, Keesler Air Force Base

    Resource Management Officer

    Position Summary: Executed an $89M direct care operations and management program that included 45 functional accounts and 172 cost centers. Managed manpower, budgeting and planning for 1,600 military, civilian and contract positions for a facility serving over 27,000 beneficiaries. Monitored facility data quality program and reported metrics used for efficiency, productivity and business case analyses.

    1. Earned distinction by leading effort to win two regional level Best Financial Office Awards (2009 & 2010) over 11 other regional offices

    Position Summary: Interfaced with federal healthcare partners to promote strong working relationships in order to integrate medical services on behalf of DOD, covering a geographic market from New Orleans, LA to Mobile, AL. Developed cooperative partnerships between DOD and VA to examine areas of healthcare consolidation or sharing of services. Facilitated development of detailed courses of action and solutions for beneficiary care and reimbursement.

    Impact:

    1. Secured federal funding for six strategic multi-agency healthcare integration projects valued at over $10M
    2. Led corporate level Department of Defense (DOD) effort to increase healthcare integration amongst DOD facilities and between DOD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities in the US Gulf Coast region
    3. Implemented formal healthcare support services sharing agreements for nine medical product lines and preliminary agreements for three more product lines

    Position Summary: Directed all aspects of training for the biomedical equipment technician, patient administration and medical logistics specialist programs. Supervised three program directors, 108 military and civilian instructors and 114 classes, ensuring the graduation of approximately 1,700 healthcare support technicians annually. Developed departmental policies to comply with the Community College of the Air Force’s policies, procedures and guidelines and for reporting instructional staff qualifications in order to maintain curriculum affiliation. Ensured management of 108 instructor records. Developed action plans with instructors and program directors to achieve degree completion in accordance with policy requirements. Monitored and counseled instructional staff on their qualification progress. Generated monthly departmental progress reports on instructor evaluations, subject matter testing, internships and non-degreed instructors. Planned and executed a $1.2M budget.

    Impact:

    1. Implemented 10 departmental policies and standard operating procedures that streamlined processes and eliminated redundancies across 3 programs
    2. Supervised preparation efforts for and during 2013 Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) candidacy review inspection for 80 faculty records that resulted in zero discrepancies
    3. Led department to zero findings during 2012 Council of Occupational Education site survey
    4. Implemented testing for Electronic Health Record Specialist Certification for patient administration instructors and Air Force Reserve students; all instructors certified and 91% current student pass rate

    Position Summary: As Administrator, provided business and contracting consultation to two directorates and nine divisions supporting the Air Force Surgeon General. As Program Element Monitor, developed strategies for enterprise wide resource planning.

    Impact:

    1. Advised senior leaders on long term programming and budgeting actions for the Air Force Medical Service’s largest medical panel, comprising $53M in contracts and 12,000 manpower authorizations
    2. Executed a $16M agency budget and directed human resource programs supporting 150 staff at three different U.S. locations

    Position Summary: Leads and directs instructional delivery for various courses in the Health Sciences Administration degree program under the University of the Incarnate Word's Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCaP). Develops and manages syllabus materials. Selects and compiles tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to standardized learning objectives. Coordinates courseware and curriculum with academic department. Reviews textbook and other courseware changes with the academic department and other faculty teaching the course. Facilitates class instruction in accordance with learning objectives and session plan outlines. Administers evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics.
