Rhonda Minton was named director of strategic communications for advancement at Lipscomb University in June 2019 and brings more than 25 years of award-winning experience in higher education alumni relations, communications and advancement to the Office of Advancement.

Minton served as director of alumni programs since December 2011 where she focused on developing programs and events to enhance connectivity with the university's more than 45,000 former students. Programs included alumni communication and marketing, Lipscomb LIVE, Homecoming, regional receptions, networking events, young alumni program and community service events.

Minton joined the Lipscomb staff in July 2010 as associate director of annual giving/direct response. In that role, Minton worked with the development, alumni relations and marketing and communication departments to coordinate strategic initiatives for fundraising and alumni engagement.

Prior to Lipscomb, Minton worked in public affairs and the alumni association at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Her duties involved communication, alumni membership and marketing, production of alumni magazine, alumni programming, media relations and legislative affairs. She also taught design in the university’s communication department and served as an instructor in the SFA 101 Freshman Success program.

Minton has received more than 15 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awards for excellence in alumni relations programming, marketing and communication and has presented sessions for CASE conferences and other professional organizations.

In addition to her higher education involvement, Minton serves as a member of the board of directors for Veranda Ministries.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in communication and history from SFA.

Prior to joining the SFA staff, Minton served as deputy director of public relations for a national memorial foundation in Washington, D.C.

    The CASE District III board is composed of 40 volunteers who oversee operations, programming and services in nine states located in the Southeast. CASE District III consists of 557 institutions and includes 10,700 individual members in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

    CASE District III is one of eight regional districts of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. CASE is a professional association that supports educational and professional institutions in North America by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, fund raising, communications, marketing and other advancement professionals who serve them.
