As a person Professor Murray is ok, but as a instructor he is terrible. He just reads from the book, shows you some examples, but does not actually make you practice in class. He will offer some help to the person having trouble, but that does not excuse the fact that he makes computer science more difficult and boring, which it is not.

This class is really difficult if you are a first time programmer. It is unnecessarily hard for an intro course. Professor Murray doesn't give enough practice. When I would ask a question through email, 95% of the time he wouldn't respond. Everything I asked he made seem like a dumb question. If you do have experience programming, he will only let you use DrJava. Do NOT take him.
