    Suffolk Free Tax Preparation Center

    Site Coordinator

I served on the board from 2009 until the organization was dissolved in 2014. The organization was all volunteer

and management of a center involved assigning clients to volunteers and reviewing tax returns they prepare

as well as preparing and reviewing tax returns myself. I volunteered at and then managed the Charlestown center from 2009 until 2013

for four hours on Tuesday nights each year during February

    March and April. I co-instructed the volunteer training from 2010 - 2012

including nonresident return training and specialty tax return training for 2013. In addition

I managed the Roxbury center on Saturdays in 2012 and 2013

and co-managed a one-night tax preparation center at the Asian American Civic Association in 2013

helping two other volunteers prepare a dozen returns in just a few hours.\n

    Community Tax Aid

    Site Coordinator

I was the Site Coordinator for the volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) center on Suffolk University campus. I also conducted training for Advanced and Nonresident and Foreign Student certification.\n\nThe center was run in conjunction with Boston Tax Help Coalition

which aims to broaden pathways from poverty to financial empowerment by maximizing the impact of the Earned Income Tax Credit and other tax credits through quality

    free tax preparation

financial education and economic stability opportunities. All VITA sites are staffed by volunteers who prepare and file taxes face-to-face with eligible taxpayers. Volunteers commit to at least 30 hours of service throughout the tax season.
