Good
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
I am a Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh. I have extensive teaching experience, both with introductory and advanced level course instruction. My research has focused more recently on Physics Education Research, and prior to this, in the subfield of observational astronomy. Dr. Michael Wood-Vasey and I founded an undergraduate astronomy research program in 2009, which we dubbed Survey of Extrasolar Planets at the University of Pittsburgh (STEPUP), and this research group has successfully published findings in the Astrophysical Journal. I am currently involved in efforts to improve the professional development of Graduate Teaching Assistants, and to understand the unique challenges facing underrepresented groups in physics and astronomy classes. To that end, I work with Dr. Chandralekha Singh and graduate student Zeynep Yasemin Kalender in conducting survey research and facilitating interventions meant to promote a sense of belonging among introductory students.
