Marna is now an assistant adjunct professor with the University of Maryland University College teaching criminal investigation and digital forensics. She has been involved with law enforcement since her college days (from 1969 until 1972) when she graduated from Penn State with a BA in Law Enforcement and Corrections. After graduating, and while attending the University of Maryland School of Law at night, she was a Howard County, Md. police officer and then a detective investigating crimes against persons. After graduating with a JD in 1977, she attended George Washington University gaining a Masters of Forensic Science in 1980 and since then, has stayed interested and involved with forensics in criminal litigation. she also developed a special interest and gained specialized training in digital forensics. She worked as a prosecutor in Baltimore County and Howard County and after working as the risk-management attorney and legal advisor for police and fire services in Howard County, she was elected as the chief prosecutor, the State's Attorney in Howard County, Md. in 1994 where she served for two terms. She and her husband, Keith, moved to Arizona in 1992 where she worked at the Arizona Attorney General's office as the Director of Victim Services and then, after taking the Arizona bar, as a anti-roacketeering forfeiture prosecutor and then a drug prosecutor working on cases involving drug organizations. She began the AZ Forensic Science Academy for criminal lawyers which operates at the Medical Examiner's Office.

    Responsible for the administration of the Howard County Sate's Attorney's office where over 60 professionals, both attorneys and support staff, served the county prosecuting felony criminal cases. The office was also very proactive in working with schools, juvenile justice and other partners in numerous preventive activities and took a leadership role nationally with community justice - problme-solving with stakeholders and community on issues of crime.
