You're expected to participate a lot in this class because it is heavily discussion based. However, Prof. Preston is really good at facilitating discussion. She's also very passionate and knowledgeable about diversity and social issues. She assigns 2-3 readings but you can actually skim over them and still come up with two questions for the recitation.
