    I have been a preschool teacher and worked with primary-age children in after-school and summer programs; I was a child care center director as well as a faculty liaison to two campus lab schools; and

    for 13 years

    I both taught in and directed the Master’s programs in Inclusive Early Childhood Education at Nazareth College in Rochester

    New York. I was on the faculty at Montclair State University (NJ) for two years

    and for the past 10 years have been on the faculty of the Ella Cline Shear School of Education at SUNY Geneseo where I

    teach education classes to undergraduate and graduate students

    supervise students in varying practica

    do scholarly work

    and provide service to the College

    the community

    and the profession. \n\nAs for my scholarship

    I have presented widely at the state and national levels as well as internationally

    I have authored or co-authored numerous papers and several chapters

    and I was the co-editor of a book (in which I have a chapter)

    Writing the Motherline: Mothers

    Daughters

    and Education

    that highlights the inseparability of women educators’ personal and professional lives. Furthermore

    community engagement

    linked with my strong belief in the importance of place-based education

    is central to the work I do. The three Fulbright scholarships I received – to Sweden

    Prince Edward Island

    Canada

    & most recently Iceland

    allowed me to teach and do research that highlighted the importance of place in understanding what it means to be a “good” early childhood educator. \n
