This project explored the attributions and reasons college students might limit or abstain from using illicit substances. I participated throughout the project

including an iterative item development stage

    item analysis

and extensive exploration of alternative methods to present and visualize the key insights provided by this unique dataset.

Associations between type of drug and university students' reported reasons for abstinence and limited use of illicit substances.

Developed complete test bank for the use of a national market of faculty adopting the textbook. The project included developing assessment objectives for each chapter

stratifying item difficulty across item type

incorporating past data on items developed and implemented in my courses

and formatting items for submission through the publisher's proprietary software system.

    In this study

the researchers evaluated how a person's ease and comfort with basic mathematics can affect the types of risks they would take on decisions that have either immediate

    predictable consequences

    or delayed

probabilistic consequences. The paper was stalled in the publication process

so I was consulted to re-write the paper

clarifying the theoretical justification for the study

and then to re-analyze the data (including new analyses)

targeting the analysis and interpretation to clarify how each hypothesis was addressed and supported by the evidence. The result was the publication of this study in the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making.
