Biography

University of Rhode Island - Communication

Assistant Professor, Management & Marketing at Rhode Island College, School of Business
Higher Education
Leslie
Filippelli-DiManna, D.B.A., SHRM-SCP
Smithfield, Rhode Island
I have approximately 25 years of teaching, managerial, and relationship building experience. My education combined with my experience in teaching all levels of students, from training school residents to adults receiving advanced degrees, enables me to be flexible and effective in providing innovative, fun and effective quality learning and instruction.

I am currently an Assistant Professor, Management & Marketing at Rhode Island College, School of Management. Previously I have been an adjunct faculty member at Bryant University, the Community College of Rhode Island, and New England Institute of Technology teaching management, English, and communications courses. For more than ten years, I have taught incoming graduate and undergraduate students and find it fulfilling to see students grasp a concept that previously eluded them or put into practice material they've only read in textbooks. Dealing with a large international population, I have had the privilege of learning a great deal from my students and incorporating that information into my teaching.

Prior to teaching, I was the President of the VNA Foundation for Lifespan. There I was responsible for the administration of the Foundation and fund raising. I have almost fifteen years of fund raising/development experience and attained the credentials of a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). I found my work with the Board, donors and patients to be rewarding and worthwhile.

I hold a Doctorate of Business Administration in Leadership from Walden University. My doctoral study "Exploring Opportunities for Conflict Resolution in Higher Education" focused on interpersonal communication and its affect on conflict resolution. I also hold a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Health Administration and a Master's Degree in Management from Bryant University as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Communication/Public Relations and Management from Rhode Island College.
