    PhD

    Social Welfare
My main research was focused on the reproductive experiences of women in recovery from drug and alcohol dependence. I talked in detail with many women in the San Francisco Bay Area about their lives. Sex trading was almost universal in their experiences, as was abortion to control births. I have published my work discussing policy options to address this challenging topic. In addition, I wrote on health policy and the evolution of health care in the United States. We are now seeing in the Affordable Care Act the culmination of much of what experts have been proposing for years, from both major political parties.
