Resume

  • 2006

    Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

My dissertation research focused on the molecular basis of thermoregulation in Pseudomonas syringae. Using a combination of molecular genetics

    RNAseq

    whole genome resequencing

    qRT-PCR

    quantitative single cell fluorescent microscopy

    and culture based assays

I was able to describe several temperature-dependent phenotypes and the genetics underpinning such temperature regulation.

My research program focuses on how organismal and molecular interactions affect the ecology and evolution of plant pathogens.

I'm interested in the evolution and ecology of plant-associated bacteria

as well as the capture and co-option of bacteriophage by their bacterial hosts. I utilize the model organism

Pseudomonas syringae to study interbacterial competition among closely related strains

including those mediated by a bacteriophage-derived toxin.
