I believe passionately that there are second acts in American life. I am in my second act. After a stellar 35-year career managing a Social Security office, I retired in 2005. Unfortunately, I left my job without a plan. But I knew I wanted to make a difference in my next act and find my purpose.

My undergraduate degree was in psychology, so I decided to pursue my life-long ambition of obtaining a master’s degree in psychological counseling. I applied to Monmouth University, took the GRE and was accepted into their graduate program. When I attended my first class, I figured out that I had probably graduated from undergraduate school a few decades before my classmates. But not only did I persevere, I excelled and was awarded the department’s highest academic and counseling skills awards.

After interning at the Ocean County College’s Career Center, I knew my calling in life was to empower others to create the life they really wanted, build the career they truly desired. I founded, Second Acts Career Services,, where I am a resume writer, job search strategist, administer career and Myers Briggs Type Assessments (MBTI) write LinkedIn profiles, teach workshops and mentor clients on how to use LinkedIn and Twitter for the job search.

I am also honored to work as a career coach for NextJob, a national outplacement company focused on full employment in America.

Another one of my second acts is teaching Psychology courses at Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ. Inspired by an aunt when I was a little girl, I always wanted to teach. Now I am living the dream.

Realizing the value of teaching children the value of self-esteem, my daughter and I wrote a children’s book,"What Kind of Dog Am I?" about Posha, her rescued dog.

Since I am a career transitioner myself, I am very empathetic to a client's fear of change and risk. But I believe it is never too late to set the stage for your second act.

"What Kind of Dog Am I?" is a children's book. The book is about Kelly's dog Posha. She is a rescued dog. She knows she is very happy, loves her dog-mommy and has funny front paws that turn out like a ballet dancer's feet. But everyone she meets still wants to know what kind of dog she is. By following Posha's journey of self-discovery, children will learn the valuable life lessons of how they can find their own true identity and build self-esteem.
