Troy University Online Campus - Psychology

Academic Instructor, Academic Advisor, Administrative Assistant, Manager, Ordained Minister
Higher Education
Karena T.
Valkyrie, PhD
Pearland, Texas
Thus far, I have had three major career paths: 1) the Administrative Assistant/Manager who was "Gal Friday" for executives in brokerage, academics, and recently in trucking and small business environments for years, and 2) the Academician who managed a family and as a single mother who managed to earn three degrees (BA - Psychology; Masters - Behavioral Sciences; PhD - Educational Psychology and Individual Differences). and 3) newly ordained minister starting a Celebrating Your Life officiant entrepreneurship. No matter the path, I was able to continue my passion for learning, growing, and now I am looking at ways to challenge my desire to learn more and to serve others in a meaningful way, All these career journeys require maturity, self-regulation, critical reasoning, ability to work under stress; a professional presentation and strong communication skills. I want to work full time helping an agency/institution empower their clients/constituents so that their lives and their communities are better for our involvement.

  • Independent Certified Health Coach

    Independent Certified Health Coach

As a Certified Health Coach certified through the Villanova University School of Nursing MacDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education (COPE), I assist individuals who want to become optimally healthy in mind, body, and finances. To that goal, I am building a team of independent health coaches who share that same desire. The infrastructure is well-organized with materials that serve as great resources. Health Coaches work independently in terms of our business whether full or part-time, but support one another as a team so that we can Help America Get Healthy. In 2012 a CDC report states that 78 million adults and 12.5 million children/teens were OBESE (these data do not include OVERWEIGHT stats). Given the pressing the medical and social issues associated with obesity - we need new and entrepreneurial-spirited health coaches who want to align with us and our clients to restore hope in their lives and help America to be vibrant and healthy.
