    I served as managing editor of the Bellingham Review

    a national literary arts magazine

    which publishes essays

    poems

    photographs

    and short stories. We publish twice a year in print and digital formats. I recruited and managed a team of graduate student volunteers

    who assisted in reading submissions. My responsibilities included overseeing the budget

    communicating with contributors

    copyediting and working closely with the graphic designer.\n\nIn November 2014

    I launched a completely redesigned website and published the fall digital issue

    Issue 69. I introduced new website features

    including a blog with regularly updated content and contributor spotlights. I also implemented more robust marketing and social media strategies.

    I produced a total of eight issues of Bellingham Alive and Snohomish County magazines as the editor at K & L Media

    Inc.

    a publisher of regional lifestyle magazines. In addition to managing the publications

    I contributed featured articles and photography. I also advised a team of undergraduate journalism and graphic design interns.\n\nI completed a special feature insert of North Sound Couture Weddings and planned photoshoots for feature articles

    and the fall fashion issue.

    A fully funded teaching assistantship offered me the opportunity to teach my own section of English 101 each quarter. In addition to my graduate studies

    I prepared an 80-minute lesson plan three times per week

    provided detailed written feedback on essay drafts

    and met individually with my students twice each quarter to conference about their development as writers.
