Dr. John Gorman is currently a Research Associate in the University of Minnesota’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. John has over 60 published papers in archival refereed journals and four published book chapters. In addition, he is a serial editor of both the Advances in Heat Transfer and the Advances in Numerical Heat Transfer book series. His research interests, experimental and numerical, are in multidisciplinary mechanical engineering, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and finite element analysis (FEA). Other research areas include energy, traditional and non-traditional porous mediums, biomedical devices, water treatment, and other industrial applications. Current research activities are centered around thermal modeling of the whole human body (Wind Chill model, cryosurgery, and microwave ablation), atmospheric modeling of pollution transport in urban city environments, and turbulence generation in the transition region from laminar to turbulent flow.
