Indianapolis, Indiana
Industry-trained broadcast story artist with two Broadcast Design Awards for concepts, . I specialize in cinematography and organizing that vision into a manageable system with milestones and checkpoints.
My 20-minute animated film Claire & the Keys was accepted into 24 prestigious film festivals around the world, nominated for 15 Best Of Awards, and won 8 of them. I'm currently working on two more shorts, a slice-of-life about a divorced father and a Dieselpunk Zombie Apocalypse Action-Romance with instructions on how to make a great Mint Julep. Yep, you heard that right.

Specialties: Story Artist and organizer, Director.

Experience

  • Indiana University School of Informatics, Indianapolis

    Lecturer

Here, I generally yelled at and distrusted other faculty members as I blindly felt my way through an artistic curriculum nestled in a science degree. Nothing but fun in this corner, people.

  • Adrenaline Motion Pictures

    Storyboard artist

I received written and verbal descriptions of sequences from director Steve Marra, which I then converted to multiple-panel sequential illustrations based on research, script analysis, and thumbnail sketches. These storyboards were incorporated into a working animatic which was used to build the final sales animation (http://www.neezo.com/sites/Rockabots/)
I added ideas of my own where needed, gags where needed, and concept designs where needed. As a result, I also contributed character and hardware designs.

  • Ball State University - College of Fine Arts

    Associate Professor

I earned tenure at my school - mostly jazzed that I can take on larger risk projects!

  • Ball State University

    Assistant Professor

This is a 7-year tenure-track position, and we work closely with other media departments to create independent entertainment projects and make students a part of that process... something I'm very excited about doing!

  • Big Grin Productions

    Story Supervisor

I worked with director Toby Cochran to develop story of a water world in another galaxy. I managed 2 other story artists and eventually developed a script and storyboard for an entire feature-length direct-to-home-DVD film - this included dramatic scenes, comedic scenes and sequences which contained concepts, gags, characters, dialogue and environments. Was flown into Colorado on 3 separate occasions to meet deadlines where I maintained a pace of 100 boards/day.
