My service also includes significant work in curriculum development and review, IRB, Emergency Preparedness, Program Review, and Faculty Senate. My research interests are in pedagogical improvements and the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as content analyses of the spread of violence through social media. I keep active in my discipline by volunteering as a victim advocate, serving on the Governor's Crime Commission, and being an advisory board member for the Junior Metro Crime Stoppers.

Education

  • Boston University - Metropolitan College

    Master of Criminal Justice

    Criminal Justice
This program was 100% online. At the time, it was one of the few that was considered one of the "premier online graduate programs." It has maintained that reputation and has continued to win awards for being a prestigious online program. While serving active duty in the US Navy, I was unable to attend graduate school in person. This program allowed me to continue my service in full capacity and obtain my Masters Degree.

  • Indiana University of Pennsylvania

    Doctor of Philosophy - PhD

    Criminology
I received assistantships/scholarships 3 years in a row. For 2 years I served as an Academic Advisor for the Criminology department and all Criminology undergraduate majors/minors. I also served as a Graduate Assistant and worked on a variety of projects. In my 3rd year, I served as a Teaching Assistant and taught 2 classes each semester.
