    Chief Clinical Officer

This position began in 2011 and was dedicated to building a ground-up college-level infrastructure to support and oversee the various clinical activities. Beginning as an Acting Associate Dean position and ultimately converting to a permanent position of Chief Clinical Officer, this position serves this distinctive and significant dimension of the College of Health Sciences and Professions.

In this position, I developed and implemented clinical education support structure which facilitated student access to clinical training by working directly with internal (e.g., legal) and external partners, a college-wide clinical education policy and procedure manual, online training modules (e.g., HIPAA and Blood-borne pathogen training), and in working working with the various clinical education coordinators in the College, restructured aspects of our business model for clinical services, and developed curricular and opportunities for interdisciplinary clinical education and simulation activities.

With the maturing and self-sustaining clinical education support, my focus has been recast to bring vision and strategic thinking to the development of interprofessional clinical education and clinical simulation experiences that will enhance the experiences of our students across academic programs. This work includes cultivating relationships with healthcare systems and other outside entities that support interprofessional clinical activities, facilitating dialog and planning across academic units associated with interprofessional clinical education, continuing to lead the College's interprofessional grantsmantship and scholarship, and to develop an innovative, sustainable, interprofessional clinical education and simulation plan.
