Dr. J. Michael Weiss-Holmes maintains a diverse career as a performer, educator, administrator and a former member of the music industry, giving him unique insight in preparing the next generation of music students for successful careers. Weiss-Holmes has concertized and led masterclasses throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, China, Australia, and Taiwan. Dr. Weiss-Holmes has received international acclaim as an orchestral saxophonist, having performed as principal saxophonist with renowned orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Lyric Opera Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Dr. Weiss-Holmes is currently Artist-Teacher of Saxophone and Head of Woodwinds at Roosevelt University Chicago College of Performing Arts, where he was previously the Assistant Dean. He was previously on faculty at the University of Illinois, the College of Wooster, and the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Weiss-Holmes is the Marketing Director for the North American Saxophone Alliance and served as Director of Marketing for Saxophones at Conn-Selmer, Inc. and as Artistic Advisor and Product Specialist with Vandoren

    Member of the Executive Committee for the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA), which is the largest saxophone organization in the western hemisphere.

    The North American Saxophone Alliance was established in 1976 under the leadership of Frederick Hemke. Since this time, NASA has offered state, regional, and international conferences attracting many important saxophonists to present performances, lectures and master classes, as-well-as found competitions for the next generation of classical and jazz saxophonists.
