My professional areas of interest are Victorian literature and modern drama, especially Oscar Wilde, theatre history, and performance and gender studies. I have written or edited the following books, all published by Cambridge University Press:

– Oscar Wilde in Context (ed., with Peter Raby, 2013)
– Acting Wilde: Victorian Sexuality, Theatre, and Oscar Wilde (2009)
– The Cambridge Companion to Victorian and Edwardian Theatre (ed., 2005)
– Women and Victorian Theatre (1997)
– Oscar Wilde and the Theatre of the 1890s (1990)

In addition to teaching and writing, I've been director of graduate studies in English, interim director of Journalism, and acting chair and chair of the English department at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
