Heather C.
O'Brien
St. John’s, Newfoundland And Labrador, Canada
I work in research administration - helping academic researchers apply for and successfully be awarded research grants, contracts, and agreements. With many years of experience in helping students to improve their academic writing, in addition to my own MA and PhD research, publishing in academic journals, and paper presentations at academic conferences, I am thoroughly enjoying working in the academic arena and helping the newest research from Humanities and Social Sciences fields receive grant funding. Day-to-day tasks involve offering advice on which opportunities are best suited for a researcher's specific research project and goals, facilitating and offering feedback on grant writing and crafting, helping create and work with grant budgets, performing administrative reviews of grant applications and contracts, and helping researchers navigate Memorial's internal grant application submission procedures. I can help Memorial researchers apply to any granting agency including Memorial's internal opportunities; provincial, national, and international competitions; and most especially, all branches of the Tri-Council funding agencies.
