Dr. Brands is awesome! Had Him for HIS 1 and 2! He makes you at least enjoy History with his stories of historical figures! Such an amazing professor! There are pop quizzes every class so go to every class! Easy A!

Prof. Brands is the easiest and best professor I have ever had. He is clearly passionate about what he's teaching and he has a very entertaining lecture style. He doesn't give tests, just 2 essays, 1 movie and 1 book response as well as pop quizzes that he also gives the answers. He also gives online homework which are pretty easy. It's impossible to not get an A in this class. You should really take him!

There's no exams in Prof. Brands' class. The final grade is based off of your attendance, four 500 word essays, and weekly online textbook quizzes. The textbook quizzes are an easy A, but essays are not. Overall though it's an easy class, just be sure to meet with your TA and find out what they want to see in the essays and how they will grade them.

Prof. Brands is an amazing lecturer. His lessons focus on interesting micro-histories, duel re-enactments, and grander historical trends. This class is by far the easiest I've had at UT. However, there's no way around paying 70$ for the textbook, which is connected to Canvas for a grade.

Average

Our lectures with Prof. Brands are simply just him talking about whatever he wants. As for the assignments, TAs just randomly give a grade from 85 to 93, not even a real feedback you could get from them.

Simple history, no tests, and he even advises you not to take any notes in class. Be sure to show up because he records attendance randomly. There are a few brief writing assignments that are rated harshly, but an A is guaranteed if you have 100 percent attendance.
