I learned a lot of foundational skills about guitar playing. I am very glad I took this course. I learned stuff that I did not know beforehand.

Dr. Andrew is such a sweet guy. This class (guitar for non guitarists) was exactly what was needed He made us sounds like professional musicians. I learned more in my first 15 weeks in his class than in the full time course that I took at the University. Learn more than I did in my first 15 weeks of private lessons when I was 16. It was great. He has this class down to a science.

Professor Maness is amazing. Take him for PI if you are a guitar player. You will learn a lot he is a professional. It's great because you will learn what you want but also what you need. He is very caring, kind, and hilarious. By far one of my favorite professors at Berklee.

Professor Maness is wonderful. He's knowledgeable about the guitar. He's great about communicating that knowledge in a simpler way. He truly wants you to succeed. Also, he's able to condense the most valuable and useful material into simple lessons and exercises. On top of that, he's hilarious.

Maness is a very cool and knowledgeable teacher who puts his students first. Also, he prefaces his class with the intention of making sure you get your money's worth in learning the guitar. Like any instrument, what you put into it is indicative of your craft. On the other hand, he still prepares you for success using small hacks.

Initially, things seem really simple if you play a bit like me. However, Professor Maness builds your knowledge almost without you noticing it, until you realize that you know every chord and note on the guitar neck. I'm much better on the guitar after taking this lesson. Just do the work and practice, since it pays off.

ILGT115 was informative and engaging as a course. And Professor Maness made the material very accessible and clear. He will tell jokes in class and recommend a lot of great music. You definitely practice to make the most of his class, because it will be worth it.

The guitar lesson for non-directors challenged me in a way I didn't expect, and I'm a much better guitarist now because of that. Professor Maness is very patient. But he still forces you to work. You have to be willing to practice. If you do that, you will make a lot of it. Honestly, he's worth the money. He's probably one of the best professors I had at Berklee College of Music.

Awful

To give a truthful review, many students rate him highly because he directly requested it. He often acts uncaring, bossy, and subtly mean. He talks too rapidly and isn't great at explaining things. If you've never touched a guitar before, he may not be the best choice for you. He struggles to motivate or inspire students too.
