This presentation involved an entry-level understanding of Racial Battle Fatigue (RBF) based on the work of (Smith, Yosso, Solorzano, 2006). Facilitators provided an introduction of themes and concepts related to various forms of oppression such as microaggression, microassaults and microinvalidations for students of color. Facilitators engaged participants with helpful strategies to help cope with the symptoms and feelings associated with RBF. These strategies were rooted in neuroscience, mindfulness research, and higher education research. The presenters offered mindfulness strategies and the resistance cycle proposed by Hua, Nelson, and Aglugub (2019) to effectively support students, staff, and faculty in their navigation of RBF.
