Professor Istook is a very resources instruction. The lecture are based on other materials such as video clips, websites and so on. He give quizzes weekly as they open book but midterm and final are too long. Student's learned a lot from professor Istook about the basics and complexity of political science due to his engaged way of teaching the content.

He made this class informative and engaging. He is clearly knowledgeable in navigating the political field. He is very clear about his requirements and is very transparent. He wants to make sure his students learn better from him than they did before.

Always has a ton of quizzes waiting online. Midterm and final exams are open book, no need to search on internet. Politics is his forte. He has written many articles and served in Congress. Very detailed.

I do not like powerpoint presentations. Whenever I need examples, it's quite hard to understand and Istook has some fantastic experience in this field seeing as he is a former congressman. He gives credible sources to his students and he clearly knows what he is teaching. I will definitely take him as a prof again.

Average

Professor Istook will do a whole day lecture in his class. The problem is, it does not fully relate to the quizzes or exams. He was a congressman for 14 years. This is the reason why he has cool insights, but class was just so unnecessary. Positive thing for us is, tests and quizzes were all open books, open notes, and open google.
