Biography

Lewis University - Aviation

Department Chairman-Associate Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Higher Education
R. Eric
Jones
Daytona Beach, Florida Area
I have been an active member of the aviation and aerospace industry since 1989. Starting as a structural technician in the U.S. Navy, I have been fortunate to hold many positions within the field: from licensed pilot, to maintainer, organizational leader, educator, and consultant. I have comprehensive knowledge of military, business, and commercial applications of aviation and aerospace.

As the industry progresses, I have continually educated myself to stay abreast of current trends and technologies that are inevitable within aviation. Change is the only true constant. Fly-by-Optics, Commercial Space Exploration and the emergence of UAS technologies are current academic interests.

While the technology is fascinating, I am also keenly aware of the human element that aviation supports. Safety is my number one concern and I take great pride in the responsibility entrusted to me as an aviator, maintainer and professor.

The management of employees is perhaps the greatest asset available to any aviation organization. I choose to motivate and encourage with humor, enthusiasm, and by example. Recognizing that the diversity of the organization is it's greatest asset; it is my job to match the best individual to a position which puts them in a natural situation to succeed. Treat your employees with respect and motivate from within.
