    Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology
In my thesis work, I used pre-steady state kinetics combined with mutational and antibiotic analyses to study the molecular enzymology of the bacterial ribosome. I examined the molecular mechanisms used by the ribosome to catalyze peptide bond formation and peptide release, and also investigated the mechanisms underlying the exquisite specificity of peptide release. Thesis: “The role of ribosome functional centers in the catalysis and specificity of peptide bond formation and peptide release.”
