Professor O'Malley makes speech fun, even for those of us who can't stand speaking. She grades easy, and you have to show up for every speech day because it's a part of your grade. Clear with her expectations, gives an outline so following that will get you an A.

Prof. O'Malley is really kind and funny. I had her for SPC1608 and the class wasn't hard at all. She requires you to use a specific outline for each of your speeches but they make it a breeze. You are graded almost completely on speeches with the exception of 2 discussion board posts about movies, which are both short and very easy.

You NEED to take her if you are taking speech! There is no homework and just 2 discussions, the rest is speech. I was incredibly scared of public speaking before this and after i took this course with her I could be given a topic and just talk. I got a 74% on my first ever speech but that was my lowest grade. Do not forget your outline!

Professor O'Malley was always there for me when I needed help or advice. Just show up to class, pay attention, and ask for help when you need it. Even though I walked into her class feeling very nervous about giving speeches, I walked out feeling comfortable with speaking in front of people. You get to watch movies and answer questions. Plus you can pick your own speech topics.
