I do my best when I can split time between handwork and mindwork--too much of one or the other drives me crazy. As life paths go, it's neither lucrative nor prestigious, but it does give me plenty of room to be eccentric.

Experience

  • Self Employed

    Freelance Writer

I transitioned away from the educational environment (my teaching position ended Aug 2011), and began a period of freelance writing combined with providing care for my children.

As a freelance writer, I regularly contributed short articles to a magazine devoted to Bible study (Bible Study Magazine--published by Logos Bible Software/Faithlife Corporation). Occasionally I contributed to a larger project.

  • Self Employed

    Leatherworker and Aspiring Woodworker

From January of 2012 until Fall of 2014 I was trying to set up my shop while dividing time with freelance writing and my duties as Mr. Mom. In the Fall of 2014 I began spending time at a woodworking shop/school in a effort to develop some combined woodworking/leatherwork products.

It's all a little open-ended at this point, but I'm hoping to get the thing going before the next ice age sets in.
