Unless you want to be challenged, don't take Prof Dalton. He pushes you to think about things in new ways. However, if you are up for it, his class will change your life.

Prof. Dalton is an extremely hilarious and caring prof. I took this course as a core requirement and I do not regret taking it at all. He makes everything inspiring and hilarious at the same time and he also offers good feedback. There's a bit of homework besides four essays throughout the sem along with midterm and final.

He loves philosophy and it's pretty obvious. He manages to make class fun even when it's super early at 8:30, and he's always straight with us. He tells us exactly what to do. You can reach him even when class is done as well. I'd sign up for his class again without a second thought.

Dalton
Chicago, Illinois
Drew M. Dalton is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Dominican University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Leuven in conjunction with the Husserl Archives and the Center for Social and Political Philosophy. His research and teaching interests are primarily in Phenomenology, German Idealism, Speculative Materialism, and Psychoanalysis specifically as they inform questions of lasting social, political, and ethical concern. His first book, "Longing for the Other: Levinas and Metaphysical Desire," (Duquesne University Press, 2009) sought to integrate these interests through an extended exploration of the roots and implications of Emmanuel Levinas' concept of desire, especially as it relates to the emergence of ethical concern in the human and informs our understanding of the origins of social problems. His newest book, "The Ethics of Resistance: Tyranny of the Absolute," (Bloomsbury, 2018), continues his reflections on these themes by initiating an inquiry into the role of the concept of the absolute in ethical decision making and exploring its possible implication in the problem of evil. In addition to these longer works, Dalton has published a number of shorter works in various philosophical and interdisciplinary journals including: Angelaki, The Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal, Phenomenological Inquiry, Idealistic Studies, and Studia Phaenomenologica. In addition to his academic interests, Dalton is also an amateur jazz guitarist and an avid middle to long distance runner. He also harbors an abiding love for modern architecture, street art, oatmeal cookies, and the Marx Brothers. More on Dalton's contemporary work can be found at
