    Consultant and Adjunct Professor

I currently operate a consulting business, Story Consulting, in which I provide services to nonprofit and sport organizations that need assistance in dealing with their organizational/governance challenges and opportunities. I conduct assessments of the effectiveness and efficiencies of governing structures and process, provide board training, review and write by-laws and governance policies, consult on board leadership and on change management.

I am an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, having served as a member of faculty for 40 years. I have a PhD in governance and politics, and have taught undergraduate and graduate students, and conducted research and published articles in journals on nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations.

I have a long history of volunteering in the community with sport organizations and with other nonprofits such as the YMCA, Elizabeth Fry Society and Saskatoon Opera. Currently I am Chair of the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Soccer Association (Canada Soccer), which continues to work on implementing organizational changes arising out of a five-year process of governance renewal. In the last two years my Committee has worked with Canada Soccer's member associations in the provinces and territories as part of a project of aligning governance structures at the national and provincial/territorial levels. The CSA is Canada's largest national sport organization and the changes that it has made to its governance constitute a model of sorts for other sport organizations, in Canada and globally, who are undergoing similar changes.

Most recently I have been appointed to the Governance Committee of CONCACAF, the North American region of FIFA, which consists of the USA, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
