Texas A&M University Commerce - Mathematics

Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce/

Haileselassie Mussa
United States
A polyhedron is a 3-dimensional object that contains flat faces and straight edges. Examples include the Platonic solids and tetrahedra in general, combinatorial cubes, and other convex polyhedra
My Research areas are Tetrahedra (More generally three dimensional Polyhedra)
and their Nets, Graph theory, Mathematics Education ( which focuses on the
advanced content knowledge that impacts on class room teaching), Mathematical Modeling and
Computational geometry.
Currently I am working on different combinatorial aspects of three dimensional Polyhedra.

Geometric ideas often prove useful in genomics. The idea of edit distance or Levenschtein distance plays a big role in finding the " the distance " between two DNA strings or genes . The algorithm for finding this distance has been " rediscovered " independently several times.
