Professor Appel turned out to be great! He lectures in a way that helps remember the material and makes it easy to study for exams. There are five quizzes, four exams; and a final that is noncumulative. The dates of the quizzes are announced at the class and there are attendance points, so go to class! I never used the textbook and averaged high B's on exams studying the night before. He curves grades at the end!
