Biography

Virginia Commonwealth University - Information Systems

Chief Information Officer and VP, Information Technology
Nonprofit Organization Management
Cheri
Boggess Spence
Richmond, Virginia Area
I love to talk about IT almost as much as I enjoy doing the work of IT. Nothing is more rewarding than to see the light bulb appear over someone’s head when they understand what a technology solution can do to advance a strategy, support a cause, or raise funds. The beauty of having done almost every IT job in the book is that it allows me to talk to folks at all experience levels. I am equally comfortable leading a technical team of engineers from concept, design, and implementation to discussing technical programs and projects to a board of trustees.

Experienced senior-level information technology professional adept at working with large complex organizations requiring efficient service delivery in support of global operations. Army trained technical research analyst with a keen understanding of emerging information technology systems and practices who can cast a vision for innovative, long term product development and delivery. Noted for financial acumen, currently serving as the board chair of an $80M credit union. Multi-million dollar IT budget management and control that includes operating and capital expenditures.
