    Bachelor of Arts (BA)

    At Niagara University

I pursued a double major in English and philosophy. I received a broad education in both fields from ancient

    to medieval

to modern and postmodern. Having completed my PhD recently

I can say that NU powerfully equipped me with a solid foundation for my academic career. I also participated in the Philosophy Debate Club

which was a great deal of fun. The mentorship I received from the professors at NU was nothing short of stellar - such language often seems cursory

    but I truly

deeply valued my time at NU as a student.

The Boethian Topos of Mentorship: Mapping a Middle Term Between Rhetoric and Philosophy

I argue for a reading of Boethius's topical treatises that reconciles philosophy and rhetoric in Boethius's understanding

seeing the topics as a rhetorical system that allows interlocutors to explore philosophical systems as meta-topics that can be placed into dialogue with each other to discover new philosophical insights.

The Boethian Topos of Mentorship: Mapping a Middle Term Between Rhetoric and Philosophy

I argue in this article for a greater textual unity in the poem

    \"The Awntyrs off Arthure

\" than has always been perceived by its critics. I argue that the poem uses tactful nostalgia to reconcile philosophical and theological realities with political tensions.

    I teach American Rhetoric

    British Literature II

    Fiction Writing

    Grammar

and Readings in Western Civilization (an intro to literature course) as Assistant Professor of English at College of the Ozarks. I taught Major British Writers I

    English Romantic Writers

Intro to Literature and Business Communication at Niagara University

and composition at Villa Maria College. I recently completed my PhD in the English department at Saint Louis University. I am interested in the ways in which medieval epistemology and pedagogy impact medieval literature

especially in Old and Middle English. Much of my research also involves medievalism in later periods

including contemporary popular culture. I'm generally interested in what I refer to as the \"craft of imagination\" and how literature allows us to improve it; as such

I am particularly invested in the work of figures such as Carl Jung

    Joseph Campbell

    M.M. Bakhtin

    Walter J. Ong

    Martin Buber

example of writers whose thought show how literature helps us to turn the imagination's potential into more than we could have possibly imagined. I have made it my life's mission to understand Boethius's Consolation of Philosophy; if I can do that

then I'll have been successful in my scholarly career.
