My research deals with two broad, interrelated areas: folk psychology and lay theories on the one hand, and subjective well-being on the other. I am interested in how people reason and reach conclusions about themselves, others, and the world, and how these sense-making processes bear on the experience of happiness and fulfillment in life. To date, much of my work has focused on the domain of personal identity, in particular the folk psychology of the "true self" and inferences about personal authenticity. This work has intersected with moral psychology, since my own and others' findings have shown that moral virtue is seen as an essential component of personal identity.

I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in Psychology (2013) and a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology from Texas A&M University (2018), advised by Dr. Rebecca Schlegel. I am currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Bowdoin College.
